DiveWise encourages freedivers to share their near-fatal blackout experiences so that others can learn from them. Discovering the common triggers for near-fatal events helps us to understand the problems that trigger fatal events. In this way, shared stories of near-fatal events can be valuable tools for reducing freediver fatalities.

Blackout is a risk of freediving; no diver is exempt. Accepting this risk and learning to manage it properly and responsibly will help all of us to become safer divers.
